يوسف

وَدَخَلَand entered مَعَهُwith him ٱلسِّجْنَ(in) the prison فَتَيَانِtwo young men قَالَsaid أَحَدُهُمَآone of them إِنِّىٓindeed i أَرَىٰنِىٓ[i] see myself أَعْصِرُpressing خَمْرًاwine وَقَالَand said ٱلْـَٔاخَرُthe other إِنِّىٓindeed i أَرَىٰنِىٓ[i] see myself أَحْمِلُ[i am] carrying فَوْقَover رَأْسِىmy head خُبْزًاbread تَأْكُلُ(were) eating ٱلطَّيْرُthe birds مِنْهُfrom it نَبِّئْنَاinform us بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦٓof its interpretation; إِنَّاindeed we نَرَىٰكَ[we] see you مِنَof ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good doers۝٣٦ Āyah 36

قَالَhe said لَاnot يَأْتِيكُمَا(will) come to both of you طَعَامٌfood تُرْزَقَانِهِۦٓyou are provided إِلَّاbut نَبَّأْتُكُمَاi will inform both of you بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦof its interpretation قَبْلَbefore أَن[that] يَأْتِيَكُمَا[it] comes to both of you ذَٰلِكُمَاthat مِمَّا(is) of what عَلَّمَنِىhas taught me رَبِّىٓmy lord إِنِّىindeed i تَرَكْتُ[i] abandon مِلَّةَ(the) religion قَوْمٍ(of) a people لَّاnot يُؤْمِنُونَthey believe بِٱللَّهِin allah وَهُمand they بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِin the hereafter هُمْ[they] كَٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers۝٣٧ Āyah 37

وَٱتَّبَعْتُand i follow مِلَّةَ(the) religion ءَابَآءِىٓ(of) my forefathers إِبْرَٰهِيمَibrahim وَإِسْحَٰقَand ishaq وَيَعْقُوبَand yaqub مَاnot كَانَwas لَنَآfor us أَنthat نُّشْرِكَwe associate بِٱللَّهِwith allah مِنany شَىْءٍthing ذَٰلِكَthat مِن(is) from فَضْلِ(the) grace ٱللَّهِ(of) allah عَلَيْنَاupon us وَعَلَىand upon ٱلنَّاسِthe mankind وَلَٰكِنَّbut أَكْثَرَmost ٱلنَّاسِ(of) the men لَا(are) not يَشْكُرُونَgrateful۝٣٨ Āyah 38

يَٰصَٰحِبَىِo my two companions ٱلسِّجْنِ(of) the prison ءَأَرْبَابٌare lords مُّتَفَرِّقُونَseparate خَيْرٌbetter أَمِor ٱللَّهُallah ٱلْوَٰحِدُthe one ٱلْقَهَّارُthe irresistible۝٣٩ Āyah 39

مَاnot تَعْبُدُونَyou worship مِنbesides him دُونِهِۦٓbesides him إِلَّآbut أَسْمَآءًnames سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآwhich you have named أَنتُمْyou وَءَابَآؤُكُمand your forefathers مَّآnot أَنزَلَ(has) sent down ٱللَّهُallah بِهَاfor it مِنany سُلْطَٰنٍauthority إِنِnot ٱلْحُكْمُ(is) the command إِلَّاbut لِلَّهِfor allah أَمَرَhe has commanded أَلَّاthat not تَعْبُدُوٓا۟you worship إِلَّآbut إِيَّاهُhim alone ذَٰلِكَthat ٱلدِّينُ(is) the religion ٱلْقَيِّمُthe right وَلَٰكِنَّbut أَكْثَرَmost ٱلنَّاسِ[the] men لَا(do) not يَعْلَمُونَknow۝٤٠ Āyah 40

يَٰصَٰحِبَىِo my two companions ٱلسِّجْنِ(of) the prison أَمَّآas for أَحَدُكُمَاone of you فَيَسْقِىhe will give drink رَبَّهُۥ(to) his master خَمْرًاwine; وَأَمَّاand as for ٱلْـَٔاخَرُthe other فَيُصْلَبُhe will be crucified فَتَأْكُلُand will eat ٱلطَّيْرُthe birds مِنfrom رَّأْسِهِۦhis head قُضِىَhas been decreed ٱلْأَمْرُthe matter ٱلَّذِىabout which فِيهِabout which تَسْتَفْتِيَانِyou both inquire۝٤١ Āyah 41

وَقَالَand he said لِلَّذِىto the one whom ظَنَّhe thought أَنَّهُۥthat he نَاجٍ(would be) saved مِّنْهُمَاof both of them ٱذْكُرْنِىmention me عِندَto رَبِّكَyour master فَأَنسَىٰهُbut made him forget ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُthe shaitaan ذِكْرَ(the) mention رَبِّهِۦ(to) his master فَلَبِثَso he remained فِىin ٱلسِّجْنِthe prison بِضْعَseveral سِنِينَyears۝٤٢ Āyah 42
