البلد

بِسْمِin (the) name ٱللَّهِ(of) allah ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe most gracious ٱلرَّحِيمِthe most merciful

لَآnay أُقْسِمُi swear بِهَٰذَاby this ٱلْبَلَدِcity۝١ Āyah 1

وَأَنتَand you حِلٌّۢ(are) free (to dwell) بِهَٰذَاin this ٱلْبَلَدِcity۝٢ Āyah 2

وَوَالِدٍand the begetter وَمَاand what وَلَدَhe begot۝٣ Āyah 3

لَقَدْcertainly خَلَقْنَاwe have created ٱلْإِنسَٰنَman فِى(to be) in كَبَدٍhardship۝٤ Āyah 4

أَيَحْسَبُdoes he think أَنthat لَّنnot يَقْدِرَhas power عَلَيْهِover him أَحَدٌanyone۝٥ Āyah 5

يَقُولُhe will say أَهْلَكْتُi have squandered مَالًاwealth لُّبَدًاabundant۝٦ Āyah 6

أَيَحْسَبُdoes he think أَنthat لَّمْnot يَرَهُۥٓsees him أَحَدٌanyone۝٧ Āyah 7

أَلَمْhave not نَجْعَلwe made لَّهُۥfor him عَيْنَيْنِtwo eyes۝٨ Āyah 8

وَلِسَانًاand a tongue وَشَفَتَيْنِand two lips۝٩ Āyah 9

وَهَدَيْنَٰهُand shown him ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِthe two ways۝١٠ Āyah 10

فَلَاbut not ٱقْتَحَمَhe has attempted ٱلْعَقَبَةَthe steep path۝١١ Āyah 11

وَمَآand what أَدْرَىٰكَcan make you know مَاwhat ٱلْعَقَبَةُthe steep path (is)۝١٢ Āyah 12

فَكُّ(it is) freeing رَقَبَةٍa neck۝١٣ Āyah 13

أَوْor إِطْعَٰمٌfeeding فِىin يَوْمٍa day ذِىof مَسْغَبَةٍsevere hunger۝١٤ Āyah 14

يَتِيمًاan orphan ذَاof مَقْرَبَةٍnear relationship۝١٥ Āyah 15

أَوْor مِسْكِينًاa needy person ذَاin مَتْرَبَةٍmisery۝١٦ Āyah 16

ثُمَّthen كَانَhe is مِنَof ٱلَّذِينَthose who ءَامَنُوا۟believe وَتَوَاصَوْا۟and enjoin (each other) بِٱلصَّبْرِto patience وَتَوَاصَوْا۟and enjoin (each other) بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِto compassion۝١٧ Āyah 17

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthose أَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companions ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ(of) the right (hand)۝١٨ Āyah 18

وَٱلَّذِينَbut those who كَفَرُوا۟disbelieve بِـَٔايَٰتِنَاin our verses هُمْthey أَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companions ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ(of) the left (hand)۝١٩ Āyah 19

عَلَيْهِمْover them نَارٌ(will be the) fire مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢclosed in۝٢٠ Āyah 20
