The Pleading Woman
بِسْمِin (the) name ٱللَّهِ(of) allah ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe most gracious ٱلرَّحِيمِthe most merciful
قَدْindeed سَمِعَallah has heard ٱللَّهُallah has heard قَوْلَ(the) speech ٱلَّتِى(of one) who تُجَٰدِلُكَdisputes with you فِىconcerning زَوْجِهَاher husband وَتَشْتَكِىٓand she directs her complaint إِلَىto ٱللَّهِallah وَٱللَّهُand allah يَسْمَعُhears تَحَاوُرَكُمَآ(the) dialogue of both of you إِنَّindeed ٱللَّهَallah سَمِيعٌۢ(is) all hearer بَصِيرٌall seer١ Āyah 1
ٱلَّذِينَthose who يُظَٰهِرُونَpronounce zihar مِنكُمamong you مِّن[from] نِّسَآئِهِم(to) their wives مَّاnot هُنَّthey أُمَّهَٰتِهِمْ(are) their mothers إِنْnot أُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ(are) their mothers إِلَّاexcept ٱلَّٰٓـِٔىthose who وَلَدْنَهُمْgave them وَإِنَّهُمْand indeed they لَيَقُولُونَsurely say مُنكَرًاan evil مِّنَ[of] ٱلْقَوْلِ[the] word وَزُورًاand a lie وَإِنَّbut indeed ٱللَّهَallah لَعَفُوٌّ(is) surely oft pardoning غَفُورٌoft forgiving٢ Āyah 2
وَٱلَّذِينَand those who يُظَٰهِرُونَpronounce zihar مِن[from] نِّسَآئِهِمْ(to) their wives ثُمَّthen يَعُودُونَgo back لِمَاon what قَالُوا۟they said فَتَحْرِيرُthen freeing رَقَبَةٍ(of) a slave مِّنbefore قَبْلِbefore أَن[that] يَتَمَآسَّاthey touch each other ذَٰلِكُمْthat تُوعَظُونَyou are admonished بِهِۦto it وَٱللَّهُand allah بِمَاof what تَعْمَلُونَyou do خَبِيرٌ(is) all aware٣ Āyah 3
فَمَنthen whoever لَّمْ(does) not يَجِدْfind فَصِيَامُthen fasting شَهْرَيْنِ(for) two months مُتَتَابِعَيْنِconsecutively مِنbefore قَبْلِbefore أَن[that] يَتَمَآسَّاthey both touch each other فَمَنbut (he) who لَّمْnot يَسْتَطِعْis able فَإِطْعَامُthen (the) feeding سِتِّينَ(of) sixty مِسْكِينًاneedy one(s) ذَٰلِكَthat لِتُؤْمِنُوا۟so that you may believe بِٱللَّهِin allah وَرَسُولِهِۦand his messenger وَتِلْكَand these حُدُودُ(are the) limits ٱللَّهِ(of) allah وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَand for the disbelievers عَذَابٌ(is) a punishment أَلِيمٌpainful٤ Āyah 4
إِنَّindeed ٱلَّذِينَthose who يُحَآدُّونَoppose ٱللَّهَallah وَرَسُولَهُۥand his messenger كُبِتُوا۟(will) be disgraced كَمَاas كُبِتَwere disgraced ٱلَّذِينَthose مِنbefore them قَبْلِهِمْbefore them وَقَدْand certainly أَنزَلْنَآwe have sent down ءَايَٰتٍۭverses بَيِّنَٰتٍclear وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَand for the disbelievers عَذَابٌ(is) a punishment مُّهِينٌhumiliating٥ Āyah 5
يَوْمَ(on the) day يَبْعَثُهُمُ(when) allah will raise them ٱللَّهُ(when) allah will raise them جَمِيعًاall فَيُنَبِّئُهُمand inform them بِمَاof what عَمِلُوٓا۟they did أَحْصَىٰهُallah has recorded it ٱللَّهُallah has recorded it وَنَسُوهُwhile they forgot it وَٱللَّهُand allah عَلَىٰ(is) over كُلِّall شَىْءٍthings شَهِيدٌa witness٦ Āyah 6
