العلق

بِسْمِin (the) name ٱللَّهِ(of) allah ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe most gracious ٱلرَّحِيمِthe most merciful

ٱقْرَأْread بِٱسْمِin (the) name رَبِّكَ(of) your lord ٱلَّذِىthe one who خَلَقَcreated۝١ Āyah 1

خَلَقَhe created ٱلْإِنسَٰنَman مِنْfrom عَلَقٍa clinging substance۝٢ Āyah 2

ٱقْرَأْread وَرَبُّكَand your lord ٱلْأَكْرَمُ(is) the most generous۝٣ Āyah 3

ٱلَّذِىthe one who عَلَّمَtaught بِٱلْقَلَمِby the pen۝٤ Āyah 4

عَلَّمَtaught ٱلْإِنسَٰنَman مَاwhat لَمْnot يَعْلَمْhe knew۝٥ Āyah 5

كَلَّآnay إِنَّindeed ٱلْإِنسَٰنَman لَيَطْغَىٰٓsurely transgresses۝٦ Āyah 6

أَنthat رَّءَاهُhe sees himself ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓself sufficient۝٧ Āyah 7

إِنَّindeed إِلَىٰto رَبِّكَyour lord ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ(is) the return۝٨ Āyah 8

أَرَءَيْتَhave you seen ٱلَّذِىthe one who يَنْهَىٰforbids۝٩ Āyah 9

عَبْدًاa slave إِذَاwhen صَلَّىٰٓhe prays۝١٠ Āyah 10

أَرَءَيْتَhave you seen إِنif كَانَhe is عَلَىupon ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ[the] guidance۝١١ Āyah 11

أَوْor أَمَرَhe enjoins بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ[of the] righteousness۝١٢ Āyah 12

أَرَءَيْتَhave you seen إِنif كَذَّبَhe denies وَتَوَلَّىٰٓand turns away۝١٣ Āyah 13

أَلَمْdoes not يَعْلَمhe know بِأَنَّthat ٱللَّهَallah يَرَىٰsees۝١٤ Āyah 14

كَلَّاnay لَئِنif لَّمْnot يَنتَهِhe desists لَنَسْفَعًۢاsurely we will drag him بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِby the forelock۝١٥ Āyah 15

نَاصِيَةٍa forelock كَٰذِبَةٍlying خَاطِئَةٍsinful۝١٦ Āyah 16

فَلْيَدْعُthen let him call نَادِيَهُۥhis associates۝١٧ Āyah 17

سَنَدْعُwe will call ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَthe angels۝١٨ Āyah 18

كَلَّاnay لَا(do) not تُطِعْهُobey him وَٱسْجُدْbut prostrate وَٱقْتَرِبand draw near (to allah)۝١٩ Āyah 19
