The Prostration
وَلَوْand if تَرَىٰٓyou (could) see إِذِwhen ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَthe criminals نَاكِسُوا۟(will) hang رُءُوسِهِمْtheir heads عِندَbefore رَبِّهِمْtheir lord رَبَّنَآour lord أَبْصَرْنَاwe have seen وَسَمِعْنَاand we have heard فَٱرْجِعْنَاso return us نَعْمَلْwe will do صَٰلِحًاrighteous (deeds) إِنَّاindeed we مُوقِنُونَ(are now) certain١٢ Āyah 12
وَلَوْand if شِئْنَاwe (had) willed لَـَٔاتَيْنَاsurely we (would) have given كُلَّevery نَفْسٍsoul هُدَىٰهَاits guidance وَلَٰكِنْbut حَقَّ(is) true ٱلْقَوْلُthe word مِنِّىfrom me لَأَمْلَأَنَّthat جَهَنَّمَhell مِنَwith ٱلْجِنَّةِthe jinn وَٱلنَّاسِand the men أَجْمَعِينَtogether١٣ Āyah 13
فَذُوقُوا۟so taste بِمَاbecause نَسِيتُمْyou forgot لِقَآءَ(the) meeting يَوْمِكُمْ(of) this day of yours هَٰذَآ(of) this day of yours إِنَّاindeed we نَسِينَٰكُمْhave forgotten you وَذُوقُوا۟and taste عَذَابَ(the) punishment ٱلْخُلْدِ(of) eternity بِمَاfor what كُنتُمْyou used (to) تَعْمَلُونَdo١٤ Āyah 14
إِنَّمَاonly يُؤْمِنُbelieve بِـَٔايَٰتِنَاin our verses ٱلَّذِينَthose who إِذَاwhen ذُكِّرُوا۟they are reminded بِهَاof them خَرُّوا۟fall down سُجَّدًاprostrating وَسَبَّحُوا۟and glorify بِحَمْدِ(the) praises رَبِّهِمْ(of) their lord وَهُمْand they لَاare not arrogant يَسْتَكْبِرُونَare not arrogant١٥ Āyah 15
تَتَجَافَىٰforsake جُنُوبُهُمْtheir sides عَنِfrom ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ(their) beds; يَدْعُونَthey call رَبَّهُمْtheir lord خَوْفًا(in) fear وَطَمَعًاand hope وَمِمَّاand out of what رَزَقْنَٰهُمْwe have provided them يُنفِقُونَthey spend١٦ Āyah 16
فَلَاand not تَعْلَمُknows نَفْسٌa soul مَّآwhat أُخْفِىَis hidden لَهُمfor them مِّنof قُرَّةِ(the) comfort أَعْيُنٍ(for) the eyes جَزَآءًۢ(as) a reward بِمَاfor what كَانُوا۟they used (to) يَعْمَلُونَdo١٧ Āyah 17
أَفَمَنthen is one who كَانَis مُؤْمِنًاa believer كَمَنlike (him) who كَانَis فَاسِقًاdefiantly disobedient لَّاnot يَسْتَوُۥنَthey are equal١٨ Āyah 18
أَمَّاas for ٱلَّذِينَthose who ءَامَنُوا۟believe وَعَمِلُوا۟and do ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِrighteous deeds فَلَهُمْthen for them جَنَّٰتُ(are) gardens ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ(of) refuge نُزُلًۢا(as) hospitality بِمَاfor what كَانُوا۟they used (to) يَعْمَلُونَdo١٩ Āyah 19
وَأَمَّاbut as for ٱلَّذِينَthose who فَسَقُوا۟are defiantly disobedient فَمَأْوَىٰهُمُthen their refuge ٱلنَّارُ(is) the fire كُلَّمَآevery time أَرَادُوٓا۟they wish أَنto يَخْرُجُوا۟come out مِنْهَآfrom it أُعِيدُوا۟they (will) be returned فِيهَاin it وَقِيلَand it (will) be said لَهُمْto them ذُوقُوا۟taste عَذَابَ(the) punishment ٱلنَّارِ(of) the fire ٱلَّذِىwhich كُنتُمyou used (to) بِهِۦ[in it] تُكَذِّبُونَdeny٢٠ Āyah 20
وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُمand surely we will let them مِّنَof ٱلْعَذَابِthe punishment ٱلْأَدْنَىٰthe nearer دُونَbefore ٱلْعَذَابِthe punishment ٱلْأَكْبَرِthe greater لَعَلَّهُمْso that they may يَرْجِعُونَreturn٢١ Āyah 21
وَمَنْand who أَظْلَمُ(is) more unjust مِمَّنthan (he) who ذُكِّرَis reminded بِـَٔايَٰتِof (the) verses رَبِّهِۦ(of) his lord ثُمَّthen أَعْرَضَhe turns away عَنْهَآfrom them إِنَّاindeed we مِنَfrom ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَthe criminals مُنتَقِمُونَ(will) take retribution٢٢ Āyah 22
