الزخرف

أَمِor ٱتَّخَذَhas he taken مِمَّاof what يَخْلُقُhe has created بَنَاتٍdaughters وَأَصْفَىٰكُمand he has chosen (for) you بِٱلْبَنِينَsons۝١٦ Āyah 16

وَإِذَاand when بُشِّرَis given good news أَحَدُهُم(to) one of them بِمَاof what ضَرَبَhe sets up لِلرَّحْمَٰنِfor the most gracious مَثَلًا(as) a likeness ظَلَّbecomes وَجْهُهُۥhis face مُسْوَدًّاdark وَهُوَand he كَظِيمٌ(is) filled with grief۝١٧ Āyah 17

أَوَمَنthen (is one) who يُنَشَّؤُا۟is brought up فِىin ٱلْحِلْيَةِornaments وَهُوَand he فِىin ٱلْخِصَامِthe dispute غَيْرُ(is) not مُبِينٍclear۝١٨ Āyah 18

وَجَعَلُوا۟and they made ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَthe angels ٱلَّذِينَthose who هُمْthemselves عِبَٰدُ(are) slaves ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ(of) the most gracious إِنَٰثًاfemales أَشَهِدُوا۟did they witness خَلْقَهُمْtheir creation سَتُكْتَبُwill be recorded شَهَٰدَتُهُمْtheir testimony وَيُسْـَٔلُونَand they will be questioned۝١٩ Āyah 19

وَقَالُوا۟and they say لَوْif شَآءَhad willed ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe most gracious مَاwe would not have worshipped them عَبَدْنَٰهُمwe would not have worshipped them مَّاnot لَهُمthey have بِذَٰلِكَabout that مِنْany عِلْمٍknowledge إِنْnothing هُمْthey (do) إِلَّاbut يَخْرُصُونَlie۝٢٠ Āyah 20

أَمْor ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْhave we given them كِتَٰبًاa book مِّنbefore it قَبْلِهِۦbefore it فَهُمso they بِهِۦto it مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ(are) holding fast۝٢١ Āyah 21

بَلْnay قَالُوٓا۟they say إِنَّاindeed we وَجَدْنَآ[we] found ءَابَآءَنَاour forefathers عَلَىٰٓupon أُمَّةٍa religion وَإِنَّاand indeed we عَلَىٰٓon ءَاثَٰرِهِمtheir footsteps مُّهْتَدُونَ(are) guided۝٢٢ Āyah 22

وَكَذَٰلِكَand thus مَآnot أَرْسَلْنَاwe sent مِنbefore you قَبْلِكَbefore you فِىin قَرْيَةٍa town مِّنany نَّذِيرٍwarner إِلَّاexcept قَالَsaid مُتْرَفُوهَآ(the) wealthy ones of it إِنَّاindeed we وَجَدْنَآ[we] found ءَابَآءَنَاour forefathers عَلَىٰٓon أُمَّةٍa religion وَإِنَّاand indeed we عَلَىٰٓ[on] ءَاثَٰرِهِمtheir footsteps مُّقْتَدُونَ(are) following۝٢٣ Āyah 23

قَٰلَhe said أَوَلَوْeven if جِئْتُكُمi brought you بِأَهْدَىٰbetter guidance مِمَّاthan what وَجَدتُّمْyou found عَلَيْهِon it ءَابَآءَكُمْyour forefathers قَالُوٓا۟they said إِنَّاindeed we بِمَآwith what أُرْسِلْتُمyou are sent بِهِۦwith [it] كَٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers۝٢٤ Āyah 24

فَٱنتَقَمْنَاso we took retribution مِنْهُمْfrom them فَٱنظُرْthen see كَيْفَhow كَانَwas عَٰقِبَةُ(the) end ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ(of) the deniers۝٢٥ Āyah 25
