ضَرَبَhe sets forth لَكُمto you مَّثَلًاan example مِّنْfrom أَنفُسِكُمْyourselves هَلis لَّكُمfor you مِّنamong مَّاwhat مَلَكَتْpossess أَيْمَٰنُكُمyour right hands مِّنany شُرَكَآءَpartners فِىin مَاwhat رَزَقْنَٰكُمْwe have provided you فَأَنتُمْso you فِيهِin it سَوَآءٌ(are) equal تَخَافُونَهُمْyou fear them كَخِيفَتِكُمْas you fear أَنفُسَكُمْyourselves كَذَٰلِكَthus نُفَصِّلُwe explain ٱلْـَٔايَٰتِthe verses لِقَوْمٍfor a people يَعْقِلُونَ(who) use reason۝٢٨ Āyah 28

بَلِnay ٱتَّبَعَfollow ٱلَّذِينَthose who ظَلَمُوٓا۟do wrong أَهْوَآءَهُمtheir desires بِغَيْرِwithout عِلْمٍknowledge فَمَنthen who يَهْدِى(can) guide مَنْ(one) whom أَضَلَّallah has let go astray ٱللَّهُallah has let go astray وَمَاand not لَهُمfor them مِّنany نَّٰصِرِينَhelpers۝٢٩ Āyah 29

فَأَقِمْso set وَجْهَكَyour face لِلدِّينِto the religion حَنِيفًاupright فِطْرَتَnature ٱللَّهِ(made by) allah ٱلَّتِى(upon) which فَطَرَhe has created ٱلنَّاسَmankind عَلَيْهَا[on it] لَاno تَبْدِيلَchange لِخَلْقِ(should there be) in the creation ٱللَّهِ(of) allah ذَٰلِكَthat ٱلدِّينُ(is) the religion ٱلْقَيِّمُthe correct وَلَٰكِنَّbut أَكْثَرَmost ٱلنَّاسِmen لَا(do) not يَعْلَمُونَknow۝٣٠ Āyah 30

مُنِيبِينَturning إِلَيْهِto him وَٱتَّقُوهُand fear him وَأَقِيمُوا۟and establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayer وَلَاand (do) not تَكُونُوا۟be مِنَof ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheists۝٣١ Āyah 31

مِنَof ٱلَّذِينَthose who فَرَّقُوا۟divide دِينَهُمْtheir religion وَكَانُوا۟and become شِيَعًاsects كُلُّeach حِزْبٍۭparty بِمَاin what لَدَيْهِمْthey have فَرِحُونَrejoicing۝٣٢ Āyah 32

وَإِذَاand when مَسَّtouches ٱلنَّاسَpeople ضُرٌّhardship دَعَوْا۟they call رَبَّهُمtheir lord مُّنِيبِينَturning إِلَيْهِto him ثُمَّthen إِذَآwhen أَذَاقَهُمhe causes them to taste مِّنْهُfrom him رَحْمَةًmercy إِذَاbehold فَرِيقٌa party مِّنْهُمof them بِرَبِّهِمْwith their lord يُشْرِكُونَassociate partners۝٣٣ Āyah 33

لِيَكْفُرُوا۟so as to deny بِمَآ[in] what ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْwe have granted them فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟then enjoy فَسَوْفَbut soon تَعْلَمُونَyou will know۝٣٤ Āyah 34

أَمْor أَنزَلْنَاhave we sent عَلَيْهِمْto them سُلْطَٰنًاan authority فَهُوَand it يَتَكَلَّمُspeaks بِمَاof what كَانُوا۟they were بِهِۦwith him يُشْرِكُونَassociating۝٣٥ Āyah 35

وَإِذَآand when أَذَقْنَاwe cause people to taste ٱلنَّاسَwe cause people to taste رَحْمَةًmercy فَرِحُوا۟they rejoice بِهَاtherein وَإِنbut if تُصِبْهُمْafflicts them سَيِّئَةٌۢan evil بِمَاfor what قَدَّمَتْhave sent forth أَيْدِيهِمْtheir hands إِذَاbehold هُمْthey يَقْنَطُونَdespair۝٣٦ Āyah 36

أَوَلَمْdo not يَرَوْا۟they see أَنَّthat ٱللَّهَallah يَبْسُطُextends ٱلرِّزْقَthe provision لِمَنfor whom يَشَآءُhe wills وَيَقْدِرُand straitens (it) إِنَّindeed فِىin ذَٰلِكَthat لَـَٔايَٰتٍsurely (are) signs لِّقَوْمٍfor a people يُؤْمِنُونَwho believe۝٣٧ Āyah 37

فَـَٔاتِso give ذَاthe relative ٱلْقُرْبَىٰthe relative حَقَّهُۥhis right وَٱلْمِسْكِينَand the poor وَٱبْنَand the wayfarer ٱلسَّبِيلِand the wayfarer ذَٰلِكَthat خَيْرٌ(is) best لِّلَّذِينَfor those who يُرِيدُونَdesire وَجْهَ(the) countenance ٱللَّهِ(of) allah وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَand those هُمُthey ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ(are) the successful ones۝٣٨ Āyah 38

وَمَآand what ءَاتَيْتُمyou give مِّنfor رِّبًاusury لِّيَرْبُوَا۟to increase فِىٓin أَمْوَٰلِ(the) wealth ٱلنَّاسِ(of) people فَلَاnot يَرْبُوا۟(will) increase عِندَwith ٱللَّهِallah وَمَآbut what ءَاتَيْتُمyou give مِّنof زَكَوٰةٍzakah تُرِيدُونَdesiring وَجْهَ(the) countenance ٱللَّهِ(of) allah فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen those هُمُ[they] ٱلْمُضْعِفُونَ(will) get manifold۝٣٩ Āyah 39

ٱللَّهُallah ٱلَّذِى(is) the one who خَلَقَكُمْcreated you ثُمَّthen رَزَقَكُمْhe provided (for) you ثُمَّthen يُمِيتُكُمْhe will cause you to die ثُمَّthen يُحْيِيكُمْhe will give you life هَلْis (there) مِنany شُرَكَآئِكُم(of) your partners مَّنwho يَفْعَلُdoes مِنof ذَٰلِكُمthat مِّنany شَىْءٍthing سُبْحَٰنَهُۥglory be to him وَتَعَٰلَىٰand exalted is he عَمَّاabove what يُشْرِكُونَthey associate۝٤٠ Āyah 40
