يوسف

فَلَمَّاso when ٱسْتَيْـَٔسُوا۟they despaired مِنْهُof him خَلَصُوا۟they secluded themselves نَجِيًّا(in) private consultation قَالَsaid كَبِيرُهُمْthe eldest among them أَلَمْdo not تَعْلَمُوٓا۟you know أَنَّthat أَبَاكُمْyour father قَدْhas taken أَخَذَhas taken عَلَيْكُمupon you مَّوْثِقًاa promise مِّنَby ٱللَّهِallah وَمِنand before قَبْلُand before مَاthat فَرَّطتُمْyou failed فِىconcerning يُوسُفَyusuf فَلَنْso never أَبْرَحَwill i leave ٱلْأَرْضَthe land حَتَّىٰuntil يَأْذَنَpermits لِىٓme أَبِىٓmy father أَوْor يَحْكُمَallah decides ٱللَّهُallah decides لِىfor me وَهُوَand he خَيْرُ(is) the best ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ(of) the judges۝٨٠ Āyah 80

ٱرْجِعُوٓا۟return إِلَىٰٓto أَبِيكُمْyour father فَقُولُوا۟and say يَٰٓأَبَانَآo our father إِنَّindeed ٱبْنَكَyour son سَرَقَhas stolen وَمَاand not شَهِدْنَآwe testify إِلَّاexcept بِمَاof what عَلِمْنَاwe knew وَمَاand not كُنَّاwe were لِلْغَيْبِof the unseen حَٰفِظِينَguardians۝٨١ Āyah 81

وَسْـَٔلِand ask ٱلْقَرْيَةَthe town ٱلَّتِىwhere كُنَّاwe were فِيهَا[in it] وَٱلْعِيرَand the caravan ٱلَّتِىٓwhich أَقْبَلْنَاwe returned فِيهَا[in it] وَإِنَّاand indeed we لَصَٰدِقُونَsurely (are) truthful۝٨٢ Āyah 82

قَالَhe said بَلْnay سَوَّلَتْhave enticed لَكُمْyou أَنفُسُكُمْyour souls أَمْرًاsomething فَصَبْرٌso patience جَمِيلٌ(is) beautiful عَسَىperhaps ٱللَّهُallah أَنwill bring them to me يَأْتِيَنِىwill bring them to me بِهِمْwill bring them to me جَمِيعًاall إِنَّهُۥindeed he هُوَhe ٱلْعَلِيمُ(is) the all knower ٱلْحَكِيمُall wise۝٨٣ Āyah 83

وَتَوَلَّىٰand he turned away عَنْهُمْfrom them وَقَالَand said يَٰٓأَسَفَىٰalas my grief عَلَىٰover يُوسُفَyusuf وَٱبْيَضَّتْand became white عَيْنَاهُhis eyes مِنَfrom ٱلْحُزْنِthe grief فَهُوَand he (was) كَظِيمٌa suppressor۝٨٤ Āyah 84

قَالُوا۟they said تَٱللَّهِby allah تَفْتَؤُا۟you will not cease تَذْكُرُremembering يُوسُفَyusuf حَتَّىٰuntil تَكُونَyou become حَرَضًاfatally ill أَوْor تَكُونَbecome مِنَof ٱلْهَٰلِكِينَthose who perish۝٨٥ Āyah 85

قَالَhe said إِنَّمَآonly أَشْكُوا۟i complain بَثِّى(of) my suffering وَحُزْنِىٓand my grief إِلَىto ٱللَّهِallah وَأَعْلَمُand i know مِنَfrom ٱللَّهِallah مَاwhat لَاnot تَعْلَمُونَyou know۝٨٦ Āyah 86

يَٰبَنِىَّo my sons ٱذْهَبُوا۟go فَتَحَسَّسُوا۟and inquire مِنabout يُوسُفَyusuf وَأَخِيهِand his brother وَلَاand not تَا۟يْـَٔسُوا۟despair مِنof رَّوْحِ(the) mercy of allah ٱللَّهِ(the) mercy of allah إِنَّهُۥindeed لَاnone يَا۟يْـَٔسُdespairs مِنof رَّوْحِ(the) mercy of allah ٱللَّهِ(the) mercy of allah إِلَّاexcept ٱلْقَوْمُthe people ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَthe disbelievers۝٨٧ Āyah 87

فَلَمَّاso when دَخَلُوا۟they entered عَلَيْهِupon him قَالُوا۟they said يَٰٓأَيُّهَاo aziz ٱلْعَزِيزُo aziz مَسَّنَاhas touched us وَأَهْلَنَاand our family ٱلضُّرُّthe adversity وَجِئْنَاand we have بِبِضَٰعَةٍwith goods مُّزْجَىٰةٍ(of) little value فَأَوْفِbut pay (in) full لَنَاto us ٱلْكَيْلَthe measure وَتَصَدَّقْand be charitable عَلَيْنَآto us إِنَّindeed ٱللَّهَallah يَجْزِىrewards ٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَthe charitable۝٨٨ Āyah 88

قَالَhe said هَلْdo عَلِمْتُمyou know مَّاwhat فَعَلْتُمyou did بِيُوسُفَwith yusuf وَأَخِيهِand his brother إِذْwhen أَنتُمْyou were جَٰهِلُونَignorant۝٨٩ Āyah 89

قَالُوٓا۟they said أَءِنَّكَare you indeed لَأَنتَsurely you يُوسُفُyusuf قَالَhe said أَنَا۠i am يُوسُفُyusuf وَهَٰذَآand this أَخِى(is) my brother قَدْindeed مَنَّallah has been gracious ٱللَّهُallah has been gracious عَلَيْنَآto us إِنَّهُۥindeed he مَنwho يَتَّقِfears allah وَيَصْبِرْand (is) patient فَإِنَّthen indeed ٱللَّهَallah لَا(does) not يُضِيعُlet go waste أَجْرَ(the) reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ(of) the good doers۝٩٠ Āyah 90

قَالُوا۟they said تَٱللَّهِby allah لَقَدْcertainly ءَاثَرَكَallah has preferred you ٱللَّهُallah has preferred you عَلَيْنَاover us وَإِنand indeed كُنَّاwe have been لَخَٰطِـِٔينَsinners۝٩١ Āyah 91

قَالَhe said لَاno تَثْرِيبَblame عَلَيْكُمُupon you ٱلْيَوْمَtoday يَغْفِرُallah will forgive ٱللَّهُallah will forgive لَكُمْyou وَهُوَand he أَرْحَمُ(is) the most merciful ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ(of) those who show۝٩٢ Āyah 92

ٱذْهَبُوا۟go بِقَمِيصِىwith this shirt of mine هَٰذَاwith this shirt of mine فَأَلْقُوهُand cast it عَلَىٰover وَجْهِ(the) face أَبِى(of) my father يَأْتِhe will regain sight بَصِيرًاhe will regain sight وَأْتُونِىand bring to me بِأَهْلِكُمْyour family أَجْمَعِينَall together۝٩٣ Āyah 93
