يوسف

وَلَمَّاand when دَخَلُوا۟they entered عَلَىٰupon يُوسُفَyusuf ءَاوَىٰٓhe took إِلَيْهِto himself أَخَاهُhis brother قَالَhe said إِنِّىٓindeed i أَنَا۠[i] am أَخُوكَyour brother فَلَاso (do) not تَبْتَئِسْgrieve بِمَاfor what كَانُوا۟they used (to) يَعْمَلُونَdo۝٦٩ Āyah 69

فَلَمَّاso when جَهَّزَهُمhe had furnished them بِجَهَازِهِمْwith their supplies جَعَلَhe put ٱلسِّقَايَةَthe drinking cup فِىin رَحْلِthe bag أَخِيهِ(of) his brother ثُمَّthen أَذَّنَcalled out مُؤَذِّنٌan announcer أَيَّتُهَاo you ٱلْعِيرُ(in) the caravan إِنَّكُمْindeed you لَسَٰرِقُونَsurely (are) thieves۝٧٠ Āyah 70

قَالُوا۟they said وَأَقْبَلُوا۟turning towards عَلَيْهِمthem مَّاذَاwhat (is it) تَفْقِدُونَyou miss۝٧١ Āyah 71

قَالُوا۟they said نَفْقِدُwe are missing صُوَاعَ(the) cup ٱلْمَلِكِ(of) the king وَلِمَنand for (one) who جَآءَbrings بِهِۦit حِمْلُ(is) a load بَعِيرٍ(of) a camel وَأَنَا۠and i بِهِۦfor it زَعِيمٌ(is) responsible۝٧٢ Āyah 72

قَالُوا۟they said تَٱللَّهِby allah لَقَدْcertainly عَلِمْتُمyou know مَّاnot جِئْنَاwe came لِنُفْسِدَthat we cause corruption فِىin ٱلْأَرْضِthe land وَمَاand not كُنَّاwe are سَٰرِقِينَthieves۝٧٣ Āyah 73

قَالُوا۟they said فَمَاthen what جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥٓ(will be the) recompense (of) it إِنif كُنتُمْyou are كَٰذِبِينَliars۝٧٤ Āyah 74

قَالُوا۟they said جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥits recompense مَن(is that one) who وُجِدَit is found فِىin رَحْلِهِۦhis bag فَهُوَthen he جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥ(will be) his recompense كَذَٰلِكَthus نَجْزِى(do) we recompense ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers۝٧٥ Āyah 75

فَبَدَأَso he began بِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْwith their bags قَبْلَbefore وِعَآءِ(the) bag أَخِيهِ(of) his brother; ثُمَّthen ٱسْتَخْرَجَهَاhe brought it out مِنfrom وِعَآءِ(the) bag أَخِيهِ(of) his brother كَذَٰلِكَthus كِدْنَا(did) we plan لِيُوسُفَfor yusuf مَاhe could not كَانَhe could not لِيَأْخُذَtake أَخَاهُhis brother فِىby دِينِthe law ٱلْمَلِكِ(of) the king إِلَّآexcept أَنthat يَشَآءَallah willed ٱللَّهُallah willed نَرْفَعُwe raise دَرَجَٰتٍ(in) degrees مَّنwhom نَّشَآءُwe will وَفَوْقَbut over كُلِّevery ذِىpossessor عِلْمٍ(of) knowledge عَلِيمٌ(is) the all knower۝٧٦ Āyah 76

قَالُوٓا۟they said إِنif يَسْرِقْhe steals فَقَدْthen verily سَرَقَstole أَخٌa brother لَّهُۥof his مِنbefore قَبْلُbefore فَأَسَرَّهَاbut yusuf kept it secret يُوسُفُbut yusuf kept it secret فِىwithin نَفْسِهِۦhimself وَلَمْand (did) not يُبْدِهَاreveal it لَهُمْto them قَالَhe said أَنتُمْyou شَرٌّ(are the) worse مَّكَانًا(in) position وَٱللَّهُand allah أَعْلَمُknows best بِمَاof what تَصِفُونَyou describe۝٧٧ Āyah 77

قَالُوا۟they said يَٰٓأَيُّهَاo ٱلْعَزِيزُaziz إِنَّindeed لَهُۥٓhe has أَبًاa father شَيْخًاold كَبِيرًا[great] فَخُذْso take أَحَدَنَاone of us مَكَانَهُۥٓ(in) his place إِنَّاindeed we نَرَىٰكَ[we] see you مِنَof ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good doers۝٧٨ Āyah 78

قَالَhe said مَعَاذَallah forbid ٱللَّهِallah forbid أَنthat نَّأْخُذَwe take إِلَّاexcept مَن(one) who وَجَدْنَاwe found مَتَٰعَنَاour possession عِندَهُۥٓwith him إِنَّآindeed we إِذًاthen لَّظَٰلِمُونَsurely (would be) wrongdoers۝٧٩ Āyah 79
