الكهف

وَتَحْسَبُهُمْand you (would) think them أَيْقَاظًاawake وَهُمْwhile they رُقُودٌ(were) asleep وَنُقَلِّبُهُمْand we turned them ذَاتَto ٱلْيَمِينِthe right وَذَاتَand to ٱلشِّمَالِthe left وَكَلْبُهُمwhile their dog بَٰسِطٌstretched ذِرَاعَيْهِhis two forelegs بِٱلْوَصِيدِat the entrance لَوِif ٱطَّلَعْتَyou had looked عَلَيْهِمْat them لَوَلَّيْتَyou (would) have surely turned back مِنْهُمْfrom them فِرَارًا(in) flight وَلَمُلِئْتَand surely you would have been filled مِنْهُمْby them رُعْبًا(with) terror۝١٨ Āyah 18

وَكَذَٰلِكَand similarly بَعَثْنَٰهُمْwe raised them لِيَتَسَآءَلُوا۟that they might question بَيْنَهُمْamong them قَالَsaid قَآئِلٌa speaker مِّنْهُمْamong them كَمْhow long لَبِثْتُمْhave you remained قَالُوا۟they said لَبِثْنَاwe have remained يَوْمًاa day أَوْor بَعْضَa part يَوْمٍ(of) a day قَالُوا۟they said رَبُّكُمْyour lord أَعْلَمُknows best بِمَاhow long لَبِثْتُمْyou have remained فَٱبْعَثُوٓا۟so send أَحَدَكُمone of you بِوَرِقِكُمْwith this silver coin of yours هَٰذِهِۦٓwith this silver coin of yours إِلَىto ٱلْمَدِينَةِthe city فَلْيَنظُرْand let him se أَيُّهَآwhich is أَزْكَىٰthe purest طَعَامًاfood فَلْيَأْتِكُمand let him bring to you بِرِزْقٍprovision مِّنْهُfrom it وَلْيَتَلَطَّفْand let him be cautious وَلَاand let not be aware يُشْعِرَنَّand let not be aware بِكُمْabout you أَحَدًاanyone۝١٩ Āyah 19

إِنَّهُمْindeed [they] إِنif يَظْهَرُوا۟they come to know عَلَيْكُمْabout you يَرْجُمُوكُمْthey will stone you أَوْor يُعِيدُوكُمْreturn you فِىto مِلَّتِهِمْtheir religion وَلَنand never تُفْلِحُوٓا۟will you succeed إِذًاthen أَبَدًاever۝٢٠ Āyah 20

وَكَذَٰلِكَand similarly أَعْثَرْنَاwe made known عَلَيْهِمْabout them لِيَعْلَمُوٓا۟that they might know أَنَّthat وَعْدَ(the) promise ٱللَّهِ(of) allah حَقٌّ(is) true وَأَنَّand that ٱلسَّاعَةَ(about) the hour لَا(there is) no رَيْبَdoubt فِيهَآin it إِذْwhen يَتَنَٰزَعُونَthey disputed بَيْنَهُمْamong themselves أَمْرَهُمْabout their affair فَقَالُوا۟and they said ٱبْنُوا۟construct عَلَيْهِمover them بُنْيَٰنًاa structure رَّبُّهُمْtheir lord أَعْلَمُknows best بِهِمْabout them قَالَsaid ٱلَّذِينَthose who غَلَبُوا۟prevailed عَلَىٰٓin أَمْرِهِمْtheir matter لَنَتَّخِذَنَّsurely we will take عَلَيْهِمover them مَّسْجِدًاa place of worship۝٢١ Āyah 21

سَيَقُولُونَthey say ثَلَٰثَةٌ(they were) three رَّابِعُهُمْthe forth of them كَلْبُهُمْtheir dog; وَيَقُولُونَand they say خَمْسَةٌ(they were) five سَادِسُهُمْthe sixth of them كَلْبُهُمْtheir dog رَجْمًۢاguessing بِٱلْغَيْبِabout the unseen; وَيَقُولُونَand they say سَبْعَةٌ(they were) seven وَثَامِنُهُمْand the eight of them كَلْبُهُمْtheir dog قُلsay رَّبِّىٓmy lord أَعْلَمُknows best بِعِدَّتِهِمtheir number مَّاnone يَعْلَمُهُمْknows them إِلَّاexcept قَلِيلٌa few فَلَاso (do) not تُمَارِargue فِيهِمْabout them إِلَّاexcept مِرَآءً(with) an argument ظَٰهِرًاobvious وَلَاand (do) not تَسْتَفْتِinquire فِيهِمabout them مِّنْهُمْamong them أَحَدًا(from) anyone۝٢٢ Āyah 22
