وَإِذْand when قُلْنَاwe said لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِto the angels ٱسْجُدُوا۟prostrate لِـَٔادَمَto adam فَسَجَدُوٓا۟then they prostrated إِلَّآexcept إِبْلِيسَiblis; أَبَىٰhe refused۝١١٦ Āyah 116

فَقُلْنَاthen we said يَٰٓـَٔادَمُo adam إِنَّindeed هَٰذَاthis عَدُوٌّ(is) an enemy لَّكَto you وَلِزَوْجِكَand to your wife فَلَاso not يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا(let) him drive you both مِنَfrom ٱلْجَنَّةِparadise فَتَشْقَىٰٓso (that) you would suffer۝١١٧ Āyah 117

إِنَّindeed لَكَfor you أَلَّاthat not تَجُوعَyou will be hungry فِيهَاtherein وَلَاand not تَعْرَىٰyou will be unclothed۝١١٨ Āyah 118

وَأَنَّكَand that you لَاnot تَظْمَؤُا۟will suffer from thirst فِيهَاtherein وَلَاand not تَضْحَىٰexposed to the suns heat۝١١٩ Āyah 119

فَوَسْوَسَthen whispered إِلَيْهِto him ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُshaitaan قَالَhe said يَٰٓـَٔادَمُo adam هَلْshall أَدُلُّكَi direct you عَلَىٰto شَجَرَةِ(the) tree ٱلْخُلْدِ(of) the eternity وَمُلْكٍand a kingdom لَّاnot يَبْلَىٰ(that will) deteriorate۝١٢٠ Āyah 120

فَأَكَلَاthen they both ate مِنْهَاfrom it فَبَدَتْso became apparent لَهُمَاto them سَوْءَٰتُهُمَاtheir shame وَطَفِقَاand they began يَخْصِفَانِ(to) fasten عَلَيْهِمَاon themselves مِنfrom وَرَقِ(the) leaves ٱلْجَنَّةِ(of) paradise وَعَصَىٰٓand adam disobeyed ءَادَمُand adam disobeyed رَبَّهُۥhis lord فَغَوَىٰand erred۝١٢١ Āyah 121

ثُمَّthen ٱجْتَبَٰهُchose him رَبُّهُۥhis lord فَتَابَand turned عَلَيْهِto him وَهَدَىٰand guided (him)۝١٢٢ Āyah 122

قَالَhe said ٱهْبِطَاgo down مِنْهَاfrom it جَمِيعًۢاall بَعْضُكُمْsome of you لِبَعْضٍto others عَدُوٌّ(as) enemy فَإِمَّاthen if يَأْتِيَنَّكُمcomes to you مِّنِّىfrom me هُدًىguidance فَمَنِthen whoever ٱتَّبَعَfollows هُدَاىَmy guidance فَلَاthen not يَضِلُّhe will go astray وَلَاand not يَشْقَىٰsuffer۝١٢٣ Āyah 123

وَمَنْand whoever أَعْرَضَturns away عَنfrom ذِكْرِىmy remembrance فَإِنَّthen indeed لَهُۥfor him مَعِيشَةً(is) a life ضَنكًاstraitened وَنَحْشُرُهُۥand we will gather him يَوْمَ(on the) day ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the resurrection أَعْمَىٰblind۝١٢٤ Āyah 124

قَالَhe will say رَبِّmy lord لِمَwhy حَشَرْتَنِىٓyou raised me أَعْمَىٰblind وَقَدْwhile [verily] كُنتُi had بَصِيرًاsight۝١٢٥ Āyah 125

قَالَhe will say كَذَٰلِكَthus أَتَتْكَcame to you ءَايَٰتُنَاour signs فَنَسِيتَهَاbut you forgot them وَكَذَٰلِكَand thus ٱلْيَوْمَtoday تُنسَىٰyou will be forgotten۝١٢٦ Āyah 126

وَكَذَٰلِكَand thus نَجْزِىwe recompense مَنْ(he) who أَسْرَفَtransgresses وَلَمْand not يُؤْمِنۢbelieves بِـَٔايَٰتِin (the) signs رَبِّهِۦ(of) his lord وَلَعَذَابُand surely (the) punishment ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ(of) the hereafter أَشَدُّ(is) more severe وَأَبْقَىٰٓand more lasting۝١٢٧ Āyah 127

أَفَلَمْthen has not يَهْدِit guided لَهُمْ[for] them كَمْhow many أَهْلَكْنَاwe (have) destroyed قَبْلَهُمbefore them مِّنَof ٱلْقُرُونِthe generations يَمْشُونَ(as) they walk فِىin مَسَٰكِنِهِمْtheir dwellings إِنَّindeed فِىin ذَٰلِكَthat لَـَٔايَٰتٍsurely (are) signs لِّأُو۟لِىfor possessors ٱلنُّهَىٰ(of) intelligence۝١٢٨ Āyah 128
