النمل

وَلَقَدْand certainly أَرْسَلْنَآwe sent إِلَىٰto ثَمُودَthamud أَخَاهُمْtheir brother صَٰلِحًاsalih أَنِthat ٱعْبُدُوا۟worship ٱللَّهَallah فَإِذَاthen behold هُمْthey فَرِيقَانِ(became) two parties يَخْتَصِمُونَquarreling۝٤٥ Āyah 45

قَالَhe said يَٰقَوْمِo my people لِمَwhy تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ(do) you seek to hasten بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِthe evil قَبْلَbefore ٱلْحَسَنَةِthe good لَوْلَاwhy not تَسْتَغْفِرُونَyou ask forgiveness ٱللَّهَ(of) allah لَعَلَّكُمْso that you may تُرْحَمُونَreceive mercy۝٤٦ Āyah 46

قَالُوا۟they said ٱطَّيَّرْنَاwe consider you a bad omen بِكَwe consider you a bad omen وَبِمَنand those مَّعَكَwith you قَالَhe said طَٰٓئِرُكُمْyour bad omen عِندَ(is) with ٱللَّهِallah بَلْnay أَنتُمْyou قَوْمٌ(are) a people تُفْتَنُونَbeing tested۝٤٧ Āyah 47

وَكَانَand were فِىin ٱلْمَدِينَةِthe city تِسْعَةُnine رَهْطٍfamily heads يُفْسِدُونَthey were spreading corruption فِىin ٱلْأَرْضِthe land وَلَاand not يُصْلِحُونَreforming۝٤٨ Āyah 48

قَالُوا۟they said تَقَاسَمُوا۟swear to each other بِٱللَّهِby allah لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥsurely we will attack him by night وَأَهْلَهُۥand his family ثُمَّthen لَنَقُولَنَّwe will surely say لِوَلِيِّهِۦto his heir مَاnot شَهِدْنَاwe witnessed مَهْلِكَ(the) destruction أَهْلِهِۦ(of) his family وَإِنَّاand indeed we لَصَٰدِقُونَ(are) surely truthful۝٤٩ Āyah 49

وَمَكَرُوا۟so they plotted مَكْرًاa plot وَمَكَرْنَاand we planned مَكْرًاa plan وَهُمْwhile they لَا(did) not يَشْعُرُونَperceive۝٥٠ Āyah 50

فَٱنظُرْthen see كَيْفَhow كَانَwas عَٰقِبَةُ(the) end مَكْرِهِمْ(of) their plot أَنَّاthat we دَمَّرْنَٰهُمْdestroyed them وَقَوْمَهُمْand their people أَجْمَعِينَall۝٥١ Āyah 51

فَتِلْكَso these بُيُوتُهُمْ(are) their houses خَاوِيَةًۢruined بِمَاbecause ظَلَمُوٓا۟they wronged إِنَّindeed فِىin ذَٰلِكَthat لَـَٔايَةًsurely is a sign لِّقَوْمٍfor a people يَعْلَمُونَwho know۝٥٢ Āyah 52

وَأَنجَيْنَاand we saved ٱلَّذِينَthose who ءَامَنُوا۟believed وَكَانُوا۟and used (to) يَتَّقُونَfear (allah)۝٥٣ Āyah 53

وَلُوطًاand lut إِذْwhen قَالَhe said لِقَوْمِهِۦٓto his people أَتَأْتُونَdo you commit ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ[the] immorality وَأَنتُمْwhile you تُبْصِرُونَsee۝٥٤ Āyah 54

أَئِنَّكُمْwhy do you لَتَأْتُونَapproach ٱلرِّجَالَthe men شَهْوَةً(with) lust مِّنinstead of دُونِinstead of ٱلنِّسَآءِthe women بَلْnay أَنتُمْyou قَوْمٌ(are) a people تَجْهَلُونَignorant۝٥٥ Āyah 55

فَمَاbut not كَانَwas جَوَابَ(the) answer قَوْمِهِۦٓ(of) his people إِلَّآexcept أَنthat قَالُوٓا۟they said أَخْرِجُوٓا۟drive out ءَالَ(the) family لُوطٍ(of) lut مِّنfrom قَرْيَتِكُمْyour town إِنَّهُمْindeed they أُنَاسٌ(are) people يَتَطَهَّرُونَwho keep clean۝٥٦ Āyah 56

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُso we saved him وَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his family إِلَّاexcept ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥhis wife; قَدَّرْنَٰهَاwe destined her مِنَ(to be) of ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَthose who remained behind۝٥٧ Āyah 57

وَأَمْطَرْنَاand we rained عَلَيْهِمupon them مَّطَرًاa rain فَسَآءَand was evil مَطَرُ(the) rain ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(on) those who were warned۝٥٨ Āyah 58
