لقمان

وَلَقَدْand verily ءَاتَيْنَاwe gave لُقْمَٰنَluqman ٱلْحِكْمَةَthe wisdom أَنِthat ٱشْكُرْbe grateful لِلَّهِto allah وَمَنand whoever يَشْكُرْ(is) grateful فَإِنَّمَاthen only يَشْكُرُhe is grateful لِنَفْسِهِۦfor himself وَمَنand whoever كَفَرَ(is) ungrateful فَإِنَّthen indeed ٱللَّهَallah غَنِىٌّ(is) free of need حَمِيدٌpraiseworthy۝١٢ Āyah 12

وَإِذْand when قَالَsaid لُقْمَٰنُluqman لِٱبْنِهِۦto his son وَهُوَwhile he يَعِظُهُۥ(was) instructing him يَٰبُنَىَّo my son لَا(do) not تُشْرِكْassociate partners بِٱللَّهِwith allah إِنَّindeed ٱلشِّرْكَassociating partners لَظُلْمٌ(is) surely an injustice عَظِيمٌgreat۝١٣ Āyah 13

وَوَصَّيْنَاand we have enjoined ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ(upon) man بِوَٰلِدَيْهِfor his parents حَمَلَتْهُcarried him أُمُّهُۥhis mother وَهْنًا(in) weakness عَلَىٰupon وَهْنٍweakness وَفِصَٰلُهُۥand his weaning فِى(is) in عَامَيْنِtwo years أَنِthat ٱشْكُرْbe grateful لِىto me وَلِوَٰلِدَيْكَand to your parents; إِلَىَّtowards me ٱلْمَصِيرُ(is) the destination۝١٤ Āyah 14

وَإِنbut if جَٰهَدَاكَthey strive against you عَلَىٰٓon أَنthat تُشْرِكَyou associate partners بِىwith me مَاwhat لَيْسَnot لَكَyou have بِهِۦof it عِلْمٌany knowledge فَلَاthen (do) not تُطِعْهُمَاobey both of them وَصَاحِبْهُمَاbut accompany them فِىin ٱلدُّنْيَاthe world مَعْرُوفًا(with) kindness وَٱتَّبِعْand follow سَبِيلَ(the) path مَنْ(of him) who أَنَابَturns إِلَىَّto me ثُمَّthen إِلَىَّtowards me مَرْجِعُكُمْ(is) your return فَأُنَبِّئُكُمthen i will inform you بِمَاof what كُنتُمْyou used (to) تَعْمَلُونَdo۝١٥ Āyah 15

يَٰبُنَىَّo my son إِنَّهَآindeed it إِنif تَكُit be مِثْقَالَ(the) weight حَبَّةٍ(of) a grain مِّنْof خَرْدَلٍa mustard seed فَتَكُنand it be فِىin صَخْرَةٍa rock أَوْor فِىin ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavens أَوْor فِىin ٱلْأَرْضِthe earth يَأْتِallah will bring it forth بِهَاallah will bring it forth ٱللَّهُallah will bring it forth إِنَّindeed ٱللَّهَallah لَطِيفٌ(is) all subtle خَبِيرٌall aware۝١٦ Āyah 16

يَٰبُنَىَّo my son أَقِمِestablish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayer وَأْمُرْand enjoin بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ[with] the right وَٱنْهَand forbid عَنِfrom ٱلْمُنكَرِthe wrong وَٱصْبِرْand be patient عَلَىٰover مَآwhat أَصَابَكَbefalls you إِنَّindeed ذَٰلِكَthat مِنْ(is) of عَزْمِthe matters requiring determination ٱلْأُمُورِthe matters requiring determination۝١٧ Āyah 17

وَلَاand (do) not تُصَعِّرْturn خَدَّكَyour cheek لِلنَّاسِfrom men وَلَاand (do) not تَمْشِwalk فِىin ٱلْأَرْضِthe earth مَرَحًاexultantly إِنَّindeed ٱللَّهَallah لَا(does) not يُحِبُّlike كُلَّevery مُخْتَالٍself conceited فَخُورٍboaster۝١٨ Āyah 18

وَٱقْصِدْand be moderate فِىin مَشْيِكَyour pace وَٱغْضُضْand lower مِن[of] صَوْتِكَyour voice إِنَّindeed أَنكَرَ(the) harshest ٱلْأَصْوَٰتِ(of all) sounds لَصَوْتُ(is) surely (the) voice ٱلْحَمِيرِ(of) the donkeys۝١٩ Āyah 19
